Hapkido is a Korean martial art incorporating hand strikes, kicks and joint manipulation techniques.

Isshin Ryu Karate

Isshin Ryu Karate (empty hands) is a balance of hand and footwork.

Tang Soo Do Karate

Tang Soo Do (Way of the China hand) is a balance of dynamic kicking and hand techniques.

Tang Soo Do (Korean Karate)

The major parts of Tang Soo Do include Hyungs, Self-Defense, and Sparring for ages 7 and up.

"Basics” are the core of the system and include stance, blocks, punches, and kicks.

“Hyung” is a series of martial arts techniques similar to a dance. During Hyungs, the practitioner is fighting against an imaginary opponent their same size.

"Self defense” blends both hard techniques (kicks and punches) and soft techniques (take-downs, throws, arm-bars, and chokes) together. This helps to create a better balanced martial artist.

"Sparring” (practice fighting with a partner using blocks, kicks, and punches) is done in a controlled environment with supervision and protective gear. There is light to no physical contact, depending on the level of the student. Sparring is a great tool to teach relaxation, distancing, balance, and timing and is great for getting your heart rate up.

Weapons are taught to students at the intermediate level (green belt and above).

Weapons include – Bong Staff, Knife, Sai, Sword, Escrima sticks, and Eku Bo.

History of Tang Soo Do including lineage and Korean terminology are part of our school. Tang Soo Do was developed by Grand Master Hwang Kee in 1945. Grand Master Hwang Kee studied So Bahk Do (Korean hard style) then traveled to northern China where he studied the Tang method of Kung-Fu (soft style). He returned to Korea in 1945 and incorporated the two styles creating Tang Soo Do.
